DUDE LOOKS LIKE A PROM QUEEN!

LOS ANGELES – An openly gay teen has been voted prom queen at his Los Angeles high school in a campaign that began as a stunt but ended up spurring discussion on the campus about gender roles and popularity.
Sergio Garcia said he felt "invincible" when he was crowned queen of the Fairfax High School dance at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Saturday.
Days before the dance, Garcia told fellow students that he was "not your typical prom queen candidate. There's more to me than meets the eye."
He also promised that he would be wearing a suit on prom night, but "don't be fooled: Deep down, I am a queen."

DON'T LOSE THAT LOVING FEELING

Surrounded as I am now by wonderful children and grandchildren, not a day goes by that I don't think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant to me to have that freedom to marry the person precious to me, even if others thought he was the "wrong kind of person" for me to marry. I believe all Americans, no matter their race, no matter their sex, no matter their sexual orientation, should have that same freedom to marry. Government has no business imposing some people's religious beliefs over others. Especially if it denies people's civil rights.
I am still not a political person, but I am proud that Richard's and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, black or white, young or old, gay or straight seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That's what Loving, and loving, are all about.
- Mildred Loving, who's 1967 court case finally "legalized" interracial marriage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loving_v._Virginia

TODAY IN HISTORY

Former San Francisco supervisor Dan White, who assassinated San Francisco mayor George Moscone and openly gay supervisor Harvey Milk, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter on May 21, 1979. The verdict was considered outrageously lenient by San Francisco's gay community, and sparked conflicts between protestors and police that become known as the White Night Riots.

IT'S A WILD COW EPIDEMIC!

First New York, then New Jersey - now Houston! A young bull that has taken a liking to a southeast Houston apartment complex (they must be pet friendly!) was spotted roaming the property again Thursday morning.
Air 11 flew over the complex and saw the bull munching on the grass near the parking lot.
A resident first reported the wandering bull and even had cell phone video to back up her claims.
Cynthia Pharms' video shows the bull strolling through the apartment complex, eating the grass and even visiting the complex pool.

AIR FORCE TO CLIP GAY FLY BOY'S WINGS

Lieutenant Colonel Victor J. Fehrenbach, a fighter weapons systems officer, has been flying the F-15E Strike Eagle since 1998. He has flown numerous missions against Taliban and al-Qaida targets, including the longest combat mission in his squadron's history. On that infamous September 11, 2001, Lt. Col. Fehrenbach was handpicked to fly sorties above the nation's capital. Later he flew combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He has received at least 30 awards and decorations including nine air medals, one of them for heroism, as well as campaign medals for Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He is now a flight instructor in Idaho, where he has passed on his skills to more than 300 future Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force weapons systems officers.
Since 1987, when Fehrenbach entered Notre Dame on a full Air Force ROTC scholarship, the government has invested twenty-five million dollars in training and equipping him to serve his country, which he has done with what anyone would agree was great distinction. He comes from a military family. His father was a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, his mother an Air Force nurse and captain. Lt. Col. Fehrenbach has honored that tradition.
And the Air Force is about to discharge this guy, a virtual poster boy for Air Force recruiting, because he is gay? Someone has to be kidding. This is sheer madness. - from Huffington Post.

MORE COWS GONE WILD!

We previously reported on Molly, that brainy bovine in New York who escaped the slaughterhouse and ran wild through the city streets. She may have inspired about 30 or so of her fans in New Jersey to bust out of their dairy farm and stop traffic on a busy highway yesterday. Is there a cow revolution brewing?

OF COURSE, IT HAD TO BE IN TEXAS

We've all seen and heard about the likeness of Jesus turning up in unlikely places.
Now a north Texas family said they found Jesus...in a bag of Cheetos.
They said the Cheeto looks like a person in a robe praying.
They are considering it a reminder of their blessings from God. Several other Cheetos like this one have been found around the country, including in Houston.

ANOTHER STRANGE LOCAL SISTER ACT

Last week we told y'all about The Hilton Sisters, the infamous Siamese twins that were raised here in town. Well, here's another biziarre story. Ann Prentiss (born 1941 in San Antonio) is the younger sister of actress Paula Prentiss (shown above).

Ann continued acting into the late 1980s and early 1990s. She is also credited in some film and TV appearances as Anne Prentiss.
In July of 1997, Ann Prentiss was convicted in a Santa Monica, CA court of making terrorist threats, assault with a firearm, battery and solicitation to commit murder of her brother-in-law Richard Benjamin, and her father. As of 2004 she is serving a 19-year prison sentence for these crimes.

SAN ANTONIO - NO GIANT FORKS!

While China tears downs the big hoochie mama, San Antonio has it's own issues with oversized silverware. Stone Oak's controversial big fork will disappear soon behind an even bigger wall.
After drawing the ire of the local property owner's association, the unapproved sculpture of an oversized fork outside two new Stone Oak restaurants will be hidden from street view behind a stucco wall.
It's a compromise between the Stone Oak Property Owners Association and the Vatel Restaurant Group, which installed the 14-foot sculpture.

CHINA - NO GIANT FUCKS!

Last week, we read about preparations to open a sex theme park, called Love Land, in China.
Today, we can report that China has shut down and demolished the park in the southwest city of Chongqing. Or, as the state newspaper the China Daily writes the park "just lacked the staying power."
"With its adult and explicit themes, the country's first sex theme park proved to be 'too hot' for local authorities, and was torn down over the weekend," the paper says.
